Die aus Luzern stammende Sopranistin Maja Bader absolvierte ihr Masterstudium in Performance mit Auszeichnung und Höchstnote an der Hochschule Luzern bei Prof. Barbara Locher. Wesentliche künstlerische Impulse erhielt sie durch Meisterkurse und Unterricht u.a. bei Malcolm Walker, Thomas Hampson, Brigitte Geller, Margreet Honig, Wolfgang Rihm, Bernhard Lang, Michael Richter, Micaela Haslam, Josy Santos, Sarah Maria Sun und Sandra Trattnigg.

Maja Bader ist Preisträgerin mehrerer Wettbewerbe, darunter Elvirissima und der Marianne und Curt Dienemann Gesangswettbewerb. Bereits zuvor gewann sie den 1. Preis mit Auszeichnung beim Schweizerischen Jugendmusikwettbewerb. Seit 2021 ist sie Stipendiatin der Aebi-Lüthy-Stiftung sowie der Thyll-Dürr-Stiftung.

Als Solistin war sie auf renommierten Bühnen und Festivals zu erleben, darunter das Luzerner Theater, das Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg, das KKL Luzern, der Bösendorfer Salon Wien, Künstlerhaus Boswil, das Theater La Poste Visp, das Talent Summer Festival in Brescia, das Stadtcasino Basel, Gare du Nord Basel, Tonhalle Zürich, das Stadttheater Sursee, das Gotthard Klassik-Festival Andermatt sowie das Radialsystem Berlin.

Sie arbeitete mit Dirigenten wie Howard Arman, Javier Ulises Illán, Clemens Heil, Pascal Meyer und Rick Stengårds zusammen und sang mit dem Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, Junge Sinfonie Bern sowie dem Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg. Im Studio stand sie u.a. mit dem Countertenor Andreas Scholl und mit dem renommierten Stimmkünstler und Schauspieler Graham F. Valentine auf der Bühne.

Der US-amerikanische Komponist Jalalu Kalvert Nelson schrieb für sie 2023 ein abendfüllendes kammermusikalisches Werk, das Maja Bader beim Festival Sempach uraufführte. Bereits 2022 wirkte sie an der Uraufführung des Musiktheaters Beelzebub-Sonate von Aleksander Gabryś an der Gare du Nord Basel mit und sang am Theater Visp die Schweizer Erstaufführung von Johan de Meijs 5. Sinfonie.

Als Gast der Band OHOHOHS trat sie u.a. beim Fusion Festival Berlin auf. Im Sommer 2021 sang sie in zwei Open-Air-Galakonzerten des Mousonturms im Palmengarten Frankfurt sowie in der Jahrhunderthalle Frankfurt.

Am Luzerner Theater war sie in der Spielzeit 16/17 und 17/18 als Papagena in «Die Zauberflöte» und «Hänsel und Gretel», sowie in der Titelrolle der Oper «Alice in Wonderland» von Robert Chauls zu erleben. Weitere Auftritte hatte sie dort mit Jon Hood sowie in interdisziplinären Produktionen wie Il Pasticcio und Arrivals and Departures am Theater Sursee. Ihre ersten Bühnenerfahrungen sammelte sie in der Titelrolle von Elisabeth Naskes Uraufführung «Die rote Zora» am Luzerner Theater.

Swiss Soprano Maja Bader, originally from Lucerne, completed her Master’s degree in Performance with distinction and top marks at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts under Prof. Barbara Locher. She received significant artistic inspiration through masterclasses and lessons with Malcolm Walker, Thomas Hampson, Brigitte Geller, Margreet Honig, Wolfgang Rihm, Bernhard Lang, Michael Richter, Micaela Haslam, Josy Santos, Sandra Trattnigg, and Sarah Maria Sun.

Maja Bader is a prizewinner of several competitions, including Elvirissima and the Marianne and Curt Dienemann Vocal Competition. Previously, she won first prize with distinction at the Swiss Youth Music Competition. Since 2021, she has been a scholarship holder of the Aebi-Lüthy Foundation and the Thyll-Dürr Foundation.

As a soloist, she has performed on renowned stages and at festivals including the Lucerne Theatre, the Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg, the KKL Lucerne, the Bösendorfer Salon Vienna, Künstlerhaus Boswil, the Theater La Poste Visp, the Talent Summer Festival in Brescia, the Stadtcasino Basel, Gare du Nord Basel, the Tonhalle Zürich, the Stadttheater Sursee, the Gotthard Klassik-Festival Andermatt, and the Radialsystem Berlin.

She has worked with conductors such as Howard Arman, Javier Ulises Illán, Clemens Heil, Pascal Meyer, and Rick Stengårds, and has sung with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, the Junge Sinfonie Bern, and the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg. In the studio, she has performed with countertenor Andreas Scholl and appeared on stage with the renowned voice artist and actor Graham F. Valentine.

In 2023, American composer Jalalu Kalvert Nelson wrote a full-length chamber music work for her, which Maja Bader premiered at the Festival Sempach. In 2022, she took part in the world premiere of the music theatre piece Beelzebub-Sonate by Aleksander Gabryś at Gare du Nord Basel, and sang in the Swiss premiere of Johan de Meij’s 5th Symphony at Theater Visp.

As a guest of the band OHOHOHS, she appeared at events such as the Fusion Festival Berlin. In the summer of 2021, she performed in two open-air gala concerts of Mousonturm in the Palmengarten Frankfurt, as well as at the Jahrhunderthalle Frankfurt.

At the Lucerne Theatre, she appeared in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons as Papagena in The Magic Flute and Hänsel und Gretel, as well as in the title role of Robert Chauls’ opera Alice in Wonderland. She also performed there with Jon Hood, and in interdisciplinary productions such as Il Pasticcio and Arrivals and Departures at Theater Sursee. She gained her first stage experience in the title role of the world premiere of Die rote Zora by Elisabeth Naske at the Lucerne Theatre.
